The Best Shoes to Wear in 50 Degree Weather

I always scratch my head over what to wear in 50 degree weather! While clothing can at least be layered to the appropriate weight/warmth, shoes present a greater challenge. Mid-range temps don’t necessarily call for boots, but they certainly don’t allow for sandals, either. So what are the best shoes to wear in 50 degree weather?

In my opinion, high top sneakers!!!

Well, the kind that are like a hybrid between boots and sneakers. Maybe we should call them sneaker boots or sneaker booties? lol. Either way, if you live in a region where 50-degree temps are pretty standard [or even if you don’t], this is a trend you’re going to want to get behind STAT. Here’s why I love them so much along with a few options at various price points.

1. They’re practical.

No matter what mother nature chooses to throw at you, high top sneakers are sure to keep your feet warm and dry. I like that you can wear real socks with them. You know, like thicker ankle socks as opposed to those paper thin no shows. And since they come up around the ankle, it’s less likely that your feet will get wet if you’re walking through puddles or slush.

Obviously, you should always waterproof your sneakers. Not just to keep water out of them, but also to preserve them. The ones I’m wearing here are actually made of waterproof material which was a huge reason why I chose them!

2. They’re Versatile.

I’m obsessed with putting together sneaker outfits, and high top sneakers allow for a solid variety of them. Whether you’re creating a date night look, or just throwing on leggings to head to the mall, they work! You can style them super preppy, but you can also go tomboy chic. The options are endless…

PS: If you want to ensure the high top sneakers you pick out are versatile, go for a neutral color. Something that fills a gap in your shoe closet and will match a lot of what you already own.

3. They’re Comfortable.

I mentioned this on Instagram recently, but I literally took 17,000 steps in my high tops in one day [while I was in LA]…and my feet were fine. They’re seriously super comfortable! Now, I obviously don’t own every pair I’ve linked to below. BUT what I can say is that they all have great reviews. And I mean they’re sneakers – I feel like that’s a synonym for comfort, no? 😉

4. They’re really freaking cute.

I mean, honestly. I just love the way that high top sneakers look! I’ve received so many compliments on mine, and I’ve only had them for a few weeks. If you’ve been searching for a cute, yet practical women’s transitional shoe style – this is it!

All that being said, here are some options I found while surfing the web! You can hover over for the brand/price point. But keeping in mind:

  1. Most of these come in other color options
  2. They could be on sale. Sometimes the price when you hover over does not reflect the discounts available at that very moment. So click through to see if you could get them for cheaper! Most of the stores I shop/link up have weekly sales!
